Your Health is your Responsibility

health

It has been estimated that approximately 40% of all deaths in the United States are premature (at least 900,000 deaths annually) and are due to unhealthy lifestyle choices such as tobacco use, poor diet, sedentary lifestyle, misuse of alcohol and drugs, and accidents (David Anderson, PhD).

Points to note:
1. It is God's desire that we prosper and be in good health. 3 John 1:2 - Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. The body houses the soul and for the soul to prosper the body must be in good condition. The Holy Spirit lives in us, so we must make our body comfortable for him. Our bodies are His temple (1 Corinthians 3:16). Therefore, we have a responsibility to care for His temple.

2. God has provided us with natural ready to eat products such as fruits, vegetable and nuts.  Genesis 2:9a -And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food;…. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables especially the ones in season. Make healthy living a lifestyle.

3. God rested. We must find time for quality rest.
Remember no one is indispensable. Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 70% of the activities we engage our time in are unnecessary and when we die, our money remains in the bank. Yet, when we are alive, we don't have enough money to spend. We find out that even before the next paycheque what is left is barely enough. In reality, when we are gone, there is still a lot of money not spent. One business tycoon in China passed away. Leaving $1.9 billion in the bank for his widow who later married his driver. His driver had this to say “All the while, I thought I was working for my boss, it is only now, that I realise that my boss was all the time, working for me”.
The reality is “It is important to live longer than to have more wealth and live to manage and treat illnesses”. So, what must we do? It really doesn't matter who is working for who. We must strive to have a strong, fit and healthy body. We mustn’t work so hard to earn a living and maintain the lifestyle we so desire and not live to enjoy every bit of it when we retire. 70% of our earning is for other people to spend so why not protect and make full use of the remaining 30% while staying healthy. When last did you have a routine of doing morning exercise daily to keep fit?
